Key Safety Josh Metellus Expresses Insights on Unique London Vibe
Selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Vikings safety is preparing to play his fourth global game, despite the Minnesota team suffered a loss in Dublin last week. Earlier, they triumphed in both their earlier appearances to Tottenham. Metellus emphasized, "We must keep that streak going," mentioning his enthusiasm for another London fixture.
"Ordinarily, during matches, the fans sport the same colors, but en route to the stadium at Spurs' ground, I spotted around thirty-two different uniforms—I noticed each franchise," commented the defensive back.
"I was like 'oh my, I assumed it was a Vikings match.' But that was really cool to observe, people just enjoy football. I encountered a bunch of varied individuals of all shapes and sizes, who enjoyed the game and the events beforehand. You don't need to be a fan of one club, you know. It's just enjoying the action and developing a passion."
When asked if that resulted in a distinct vibe: "Definitely. The fans at London do a great job of generating enthusiasm. Whichever team comes out with the most energy can steal the momentum and get the crowd, so yeah, it definitely produces a special occasion. It's almost like a College Bowl game. It's a unbiased location where it can turn either side, contingent on momentum and similar factors."
"I really like the stadium," he stated. "It feels like a ideal location to perform internationally. The locker room's nice, the feel of it when you enter, it seems as if the spotlight's all on you. I'm a big fan of competing at arenas that have a great vibe, notably the ones that we succeed in!"
